Open cell spray foam expands to roughly 100 times its liquid volume, which lets it push into every stud bay, around every wire and pipe, and into the irregular gaps that batt insulation simply bridges over. It delivers about R-3.7 per inch and, more importantly, produces a continuous air seal — and air leakage, not conduction, is what drives most of the discomfort and energy loss in a typical Tri-State home. The soft, semi-rigid texture also makes it an excellent sound absorber, which is why we recommend it for interior partition walls, media rooms, and floors between levels.
